I’m a creative director, director, producer and I film stuff . I’m super comfy leading a full crew or production team. And just as comfy, but a little lonely (sniff) doing complete shoots & productions – free solo style.
I’m pretty damn good at it too. And you know what? I love it. I mean REALLY love it. If I wasn’t doing this for money, I’d do it for free. Just not free for you. (I mean, come on now.)
My mom always said do what you love. Well, (looks up at the sky) “I’m doing it mom! I’m really doing it!!” (She’s alive btw, I just thought looking up would be super dramatic.)
Okay. Here’s the thing, the actual DOING of the things I can do? Isn’t rocket science. I’m pretty sure there’s a crap load of people who can do it. But not the way I do it. So. How do I do it?
Coming up with creative ideas excites the hell out of me. Finding the best ways to execute them is… (I’m doing Swedish Chef’s kiss with my hand – ‘Hurdy Gurdy’)
And importantly – I totally kick ass at motivating and inspiring a team, crew, contributors, clients (and myself!) to get the best out of everyone. I also guarantee we’ll have a helluva lot of fun doing it. (On time and on budget by the way. Just saying)
Experience? Yup. Butt loads of it. For most of the UK’s TV channels, leading production companies, and agencies that have lobbies like 5 star hotels. You know the ones – with help yourself cappuccino machines & fresh, out of season fruit from the tropics.
It may also put your soul at ease (in other words your Production Manager & Executive Producer) – that my experience is backed up by industry leading training by those talented, big brains & boffins at the BBC ACADEMY:
• Single Camera Directing • Location Camera Craft • Producer’s Foundation
